Autosadism can be used as a general term to describe the paraphilias of self-mutilation, autoflagellation, asphyxiophilia, and apotemnophilia. Autosadism can be associated with any type of self-harm or self-inflicted humiliation if one derives sexual pleasure from it.
Generally, this sexual preference is not considered a paraphilia. However, it can be dangerous in more extreme cases where individuals may accidentally kill themselves or inflict an injury upon themselves from which there is no recovery.
