7 Best Sex Toys for FTM Transgender People with Bottom Growth

Published: JANUARY 17, 2023
There is a shortage of sex toys that make transmasculine people and trans males feel affirmed and supported -- but there are options out there. Shop around and try things out until you find what works for you.

I've been writing about sex for 25 years. Part of my job as a sex writer is to test and review sex toys. Week in and week out, I put every inch of my body, and my partner's body, through the paces in the name of investigative pleasure and orgasms. I've tested hundreds, if not thousands, of sex toys so I can make the best recommendations for my readers.

As a cisgender female, my sex toy needs differ from my transgender male partner's. This is because he takes testosterone-based gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT), which helps masculinize his body to better match his gender identity. One of the effects of his taking testosterone has been bottom growth, or the clitoris growing in length and width.

Since transgender people and trans-related health are understudied, there's not a lot of information on the topic. That said, most people have some bottom growth on testosterone, although it varies widely from person to person. For example, one study found that at one year on GAHT, the average growth was 1.8 inches (4.6 cm).

(Quick note: Although the term "FTM," or "female-to-male," is widely used, it assumes a binary of going from one gender to another. This assumption excludes a broader scope of gender identity, such as agender, genderqueer, gender-fluid and non-binary people who may use testosterone.)

Unsurprisingly, there is a shortage of sex toys that make transmasculine people and trans males feel affirmed and supported -- but there are options out there. It's important to note, too, that FTM people are not the only ones who can benefit from these -- they may also be useful for people who are intersex.

With that, here are seven of the best sex toys for FTM trans people with bottom growth:

1. LELO Sila

LELO Sila: A disc-shaped vibrator with a hole on one end for clitoral suction.

When it comes to clit sucker toys, sometimes size matters. The heads on most similar toys are too small to accommodate my partner's bottom growth. But not the LELO Sila -- the size and shape of broad mouth positions securely on my partner's genitals.

The Sila may not be the most powerful clit sucker toy on the market. Still, its sonic vibrations are more than enough to mimic oral sex on my partner's very sensitive clit. Bonus points for Sila's easy-to-hold shape and intuitive design. Oh, and it's fully waterproof, so it's an excellent bath and shower companion.

The LELO Sila is available in the Kinkly Shop.

2. Inya Triple Delight

Since this sex toy arrived, it's been in our constant play rotation. (Very few sex toys make it to this celebrated standing place!)

The Inya Triple Delight is a triple threat of pleasure, featuring a vulva-pump style cup (with two shapes -- round and oval), a flicking tongue and a vibrating handle that doubles as a clitoral or G-spot vibe. Again, this toy works well size-wise with my partner's bottom growth and his sensitivity level. The magical combination of the long, flat, moving tongue and the light suction feature does it for him every time. I like that the pump cup is made of see-through acrylic, so I can watch.

3. Fun Factory Limba Flex Dildo

Fun Factory Limba Flex: A larger dildo on the left and a smaller dildo on the right, with silhouettes surrounding each to demonstrate their capability to bend.

OK, so strap-on dildos and sex aren't exclusive to transgender people on GAHT. But for people who like shallow penetration without the realism of most dildos, the Fun Factory Limba Flex comes in non-skin colors, free of veins or testicles. (The small size has a 4.33 inch insertable length.)

The Limba Flex's core bends with your positions, whether you're on top penetrating *insert hole of choice here* or being pegged or penetrated. You can also use the posable suction cup base on any smooth, flat surface for hands-free fun. And it's waterproof!

4. CalExotics Red Hot Flare

At first, it's hard to tell what the Red Hot Flare is capable of for trans bodies with bottom growth. It looks like any other vibrator -- but it's far, far from it.

Instead, the soft flared head gently flicks and teases the clit with 10 different settings. It's a mighty toy, for sure, but the distance between the two prongs dances perfectly on my partner's clit, and you don't need to press the toy down to enjoy all its pleasurable effects.

So if you're looking for a whisper-quiet toy, this is it.

5. SpareParts Joque Harness

SpareParts Joque: A strap-on harness with a black waistband and purple fabric between the legs, with a ring to attach a dildo.

The SpareParts Joque is one of the most comfortable strap-on harnesses on the market -- especially for transgender people on GAHT. SpareParts does an excellent job catering to a wide range of sizes (adjustable from 20-inch to 60-inch hips), so you can wear this harness and have firm control over the dildo. In addition, there's a pocket for a bullet vibrator, which is fantastic for vulva-having partners who like clitoral stimulation and penetration.

The SpareParts Joque is available through the Kinkly Shop.

6. NY Toy Collective Trans Masc Pump Deluxe

Transgender people starting testosterone or on testosterone can use a clitoral pump to temporarily increase the size of their bottom growth or increase sensitivity. They're super simple to use:

  1. Squeeze some lube into the clear cylinder (don't skip the base).
  2. Place it over the clitoral growth and start slowly pumping.

My partner's sweet spot is with long, not-too-fast, but not-too-slow pulls of the pump versus shorter, quicker ones. You'll see increased blood flow to the genitals as the clit becomes engorged and more sensitive. My partner noticed a feeling of pressure from the inside and a squeezing from the outside. Size decreased as soon as he stopped pumping, but sensitivity lingered for a few minutes.

7. FTM Pitstop Shotpocket

This 100% silicone masturbation sleeve is made and sized specifically for trans people with bottom growth.

Add a dab of lube to create a really good suction; the ribbed core will stroke the clitoral hood and labia minora. After use, be sure to flip the Shotpocket inside out and give it a quick wash with soap and warm water.

Conclusion

While the sex toy industry needs to pay more attention to trans people's needs, there are options out there for everybody (and every body). These seven toys have been helpful for my partner and I; but all bodies are different!

So, shop around and test things out until you find what works for you. Like having sex itself, there's no "right" way (barring safety precautions) to buy or use sex toys -- as long as everyone involved is consenting and having fun, you're doing it right.
