Podcast Lovers: Here Are the Best Sex, Relationship, and BDSM Podcasts

Published: MAY 17, 2016
Gear up your sexual and relationship intelligence with these smart, funny, sexy, and informative podcasts that you can listen to anywhere.

Since I've moved closer to my town's downtown area, I've been walking a lot more. Do you know what walking means? Yeah, lots of podcasts! I reserve 10 gigabytes of space on my phone for podcasts. I am subscribed to more than 100 of them ... including several about sex, kink and relationships. Some are OK, some are good and some are really amazing.

Curious about which ones I listen to and why? Here's my top list (in no particular order) of great podcasts about sex, relationships and kink. Enjoy!

Perverted Podcast

I learned about Perverted Podcast when a member of their team contacted me on Fetlife about a post that I wrote. I started listening religiously after that. Boogie, Kathy and Abyss are funny, have great chemistry, and aren't afraid to talk about even the weirdest stuff. Kink is better when served with a great helping of humor, and these folks certainly have it in spades.

Sex Nerd Sandra

When it comes to no-nonsense, totally positive talk about all the aspects of sex, I really like Sex Nerd Sandra. She's accessible, open and doesn't shy away from more taboo topics (she can also handle even the most vanilla questions). Her guests bring interesting perspectives and experiences. Every budding sex educator (like me) should listen to her, but there's plenty for everyone here.

Polyamory Weekly

Ah, the complicated life of a polyamorous, sexual person. Well, Minx at Polyamory Weekly helps you demystify and learn about how to manage and improve your poly relationships. She's kink-friendly and sex positive too. As a kinky solo poly person, this makes me feel included and heard. This podcast comes with a nice dose of common sense and humor.

Guys We F****d

Oh, how I love Guys We F****d. This podcast's hosts, Corrine and Krystyna, are the ultimate anti-slut-shaming weapons. Every week, they interview either a guy that one of them has fucked or a guest who talks about the people they fucked. It's an honest (and honestly needed) look at how people really have sex. They have sex a lot, and it's awesome.

Modern Love

OK, Modern Love: The Podcast is not a podcast in the traditional sense of the word, but I love these readings of the Modern Love essays that appear in the New York Times. This is excellent writing that includes beautiful or shocking or inspiring insights about love, sex, family and relationships. They're just wonderful to listen to while taking a long, aimless walk or a warm candle-lighted bath.

Savage Lovecast

I couldn't talk about podcasts without mentioning the Savage Lovecast. Dan Savage is one of America's top sex educators and columnists and is credited with introducing terms like "monogamish" into the general culture. Although you don't need to agree with everything he says, he's still among the best sources of advice when it comes to sex and relationships. A must-listen.

Sex With Emily

Sex With Emily is another amazing general sex advice podcast that I enjoy listening to very much. Its host, Dr. Emily Morse speaks with an amazing array of guests who come in to talk about sex, relationships, feminism, porn and everything that touches sexuality. I love the diversity of perspectives in this show, and I always learn something new - or at least get a new point of view about a topic I thought I already understood.

Why Are People Into That?

Sometimes you wonder, "Why are people into that?" Well, this podcast answers this question from interesting angles: historical, psychological, sociological, sexology, gender ... I love that this podcast goes beyond just the view of, "Well, you can't explain it. It's just how we're wired." Lots of people spend lots of time thinking about and studying why people are into certain things. This podcast features the best research (and researchers) as well as tips for exploring kinks and fetishes you might be into.

Anabelle Bernard Fournier

Anabelle is orignally from Montréal, Canada and is currently living in Victoria. She speaks and writes fluent French as well as English. She loves to write about a variety of topics, from home decor and social media to books and sex.

She currently doesn't have a pet, but she's working on that. In the meantime, she's learning to write stories and hopefully novels so that she will one day see her name in print. She tends to think her life is pretty boring, so she fills it with reading books about people whose lives are so much more interesting.

Anabelle is also an avid knitter and crocheter and loves to drink wine. Lots of it.
