Refractory Period

Updated: DECEMBER 3, 2018

The refractory period refers to the period of time it takes for a man to recover from an orgasm and be ready to have another one. The refractory period is different for all men. It can last anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. During this time, a man will often be unable to achieve an erection. In fact, any sort of contact with the genitals or attempted sexual stimulation may be very uncomfortable.

More About Refractory Period

Typically, men experience longer refractory periods as they age, and older men may experience refractory periods that last several days. This can be frustrating for men and their partners, and some men even attempt to shorten their refractory periods through erection training exercises, Tantric sex techniques or natural supplements.
