HIV Anonymous Testing

Updated: MARCH 18, 2018

HIV anonymous testing allows patients to get tested for HIV without disclosing their confidential information like name, physical address, email address, or phone number. This enables an individual to escape the stigmas associated with being tested for AIDS and HIV regardless of the test results. Patients are given a testing code which is accessible only to them. This code enables them to access their results with the utmost discretion. Anonymous tests are offered in most parts of the world.

More About HIV Anonymous Testing

Since contact details are never collected, the onus is on the patient to contact the clinic for their results. Patients will still need to fill in a medical questionnaire, but this information is treated with the highest confidentiality and is not associated with your name in any way.

It is believed that HIV anonymous testing will encourage most people to get tested with no fear of being stigmatized by society. A survey carried out in 2007 showed that 30% out of 423 cases of HIV were diagnosed through anonymous testing. This can consequently provide a much tighter control over the spread of the disease.
