Cross-orientation play refers to a scenario in which an individual is instructed or requested to engage in sexual activity with a member of with a different sexual orientation than them.

Cross-orientation play can involve any two members of differing sexual orientations who engage in sexual activity for a reason other than their own initiation. Cross-orientation play may occur at the request of a submissive partner or the demand of a dominant partner. One example might be if, at the request or demand of a partner, a heterosexual female engages in sexual activity with another woman.
