A lap dance is a one-on-one dance between an exotic dancer and a customer. Lap dances are typically performed in a strip club, and can be done on the floor at the table, in a semi-private couch room, or in a completely private room. The dancer may be nude, topless or dressed in a bikini, depending on the club and the laws that apply where the club is located.
Depending on the club and level of contact involved, lap dances can range from what are called "air dances," where there is no contact between the dancer and the customer, to "friction dances," where the dancer actually rubs her body against her customer. Lap dances can even be performed in a hot tub.
