Anorgasmia

Updated: FEBRUARY 10, 2021

Anorgasmia is a sexual dysfunction in which a person cannot achieve orgasm. Although this condition can affect both sexes it is most common in women. In men, the condition may occur along with delayed ejaculation.

Regardless of the amount of mental or physical stimulation, an anorgasmic person cannot reach a sexual climax.

Anorgasmia may also be known as Coughlan's Syndrome.

More About Anorgasmia

There can be many physical reasons for anorgasmia, such as complications in childbirth or an injury to the pelvis or spine. Medical conditions, such as genital mutilation, multiple sclerosis, and pelvic trauma can hinder the achievement of orgasm. However, anorgasmia can sometimes happen at random as a result of discomfort (whether physical or psychological) or poor sexual positioning. It can also be caused by the use of anti-depressants.
