The shrimp position begins like a typical lotus or meditation pose and then gets more advanced. In this position, the bound person sits cross legged with kinky restraints binding the crossed legs. The upper part of the body is then pulled towards the legs, often by attaching a rope between the bound legs and a pre-tied chest harness. While this position is easiest to do with a partner doing all of the bondage work, many self-riggers enjoy this as a solo position with their arms left free.
For a more gentle approach, the hands can also be tied into a prayer pose in the front of the body.
