Sexism is discrimination based on a person's sex or gender. It can happen to anyone. However, it is a more prevalent reality among women. Sexism manifests itself in everyday life. It can be seen at work, home, school, and other places. It can be perpetrated by strangers, colleagues, partners, family members, and friends. It can be in the form of words, gestures, unspoken/spoken rules, and other discriminatory actions, intended or otherwise. In the worst cases of sexism, it can involve violence, sexual assault, genital mutilation, and gendercide, among others.
