Abuse is the offensive treatment of a living being. It is done to gain benefit or gratification, impose authority, or express perceived superiority. It manifests in different forms. It can be physical, emotional, or verbal. Physical abuse includes sexual assault and rape, which are criminal offenses under practically all jurisdictions. Women and children are the usual victims.
