Apparently, Technological Innovations Are Driven by Porn

When we think of technological innovation, all sorts of things come to mind, like fresh-faced entrepreneurs and chic startups and slick packaging. Oh, and porn. Wait .. what?

To be fair, the sources in this infographic aren't the best, but it makes a pretty compelling argument - and one that's been made before: that demand for porn helped drive a lot of the technological innovations that now shape our lives. And it kind of makes sense; before we all really understood what these new technologies could add to our lives, they provided an outlet for explicit content that far surpassed its technological predecessors. Also: Orgasms are very motivating.

Forget sneaking a look at a dirty magazine; now, anyone and everyone can access free porn anytime anywhere on a smartphone. And, hey, even if you prefer TED talks or cat videos, you may still have pornography to thank.
