Sex Stories We Love: Pixelated Privates, Personalized Porn and Duke’s

Porn isn't the only news we follow, but it was stealing the limelight this week. Here are some of the top stories we came across. It all starts, of course, at Duke University.

Duke's Pride and Joy

An intelligent young woman attending Duke University and paying her tuition by working as an adult film star on her breaks was outted to the world by a fellow male student who ran across her alternate persona during a private study break. This led to much high-fiving for him, and shaming and physical threats for her. Forbes says "Her mistake wasn’t making porn to pay her tuition; it was imagining she could do so without becoming a viral sensation."

That's funny, because I know a lot of people doing porn who would love to become a viral sensation and have worked hard at making it happen to no avail. Perhaps they need a couple frat boys to violate their privacy and threaten their safety to make their dreams come true.

No Phone Sex for You!

Equally disturbing is a female police officer in Philadelphia, who was forced to defend her choice to run a part-time phone sex business to make extra money to support her family. She was acquitted because it's not technically illegal for a police officer to provide phone sex services. Philadelphia is now looking to rectify that. Go figure.

Porn, Pixels and Private Parts

Ever watch Japanese porn and really wish that you could depixalate the genitals? Microsoft has developed an 8-bit depixalation algorithm, which means that now, with the proper hardware, you can. Personally, I'm not convinced that once you pixelate genitals you can ever restore them to their former glory. But if you're that kind of geek, it might be fun to give it a shot.

Personalized Pornography Starring: You

Wondering what to get your partner for your anniversary? Constance Faulk and Eric Vogel have just the thing: personalized porn. They shoot real couples having sex. They insist their work is not porn, although some of those couples upload their videos to Internet sites. This does seem to indicate that, at least to some people, video clips of people having sex is indeed porn, no matter how it's marketed. At the very least, it suggests that our sex lives are getting a lot more social.

The (Not So) Good Old Days: Goin' to the "Porn Store"

Marie Franklin writes about visiting "porn," or adult, stores back in the day before you could pick up a dildo at a clean, well-lit sex shop. Kids today have no idea how easy they have it. They can even have body-safe products delivered right to their doors!
