Sex Toy Review: Lora DiCarlo Filare

We can't quite put our finger on it, but the Lora DiCarlo Filare touches just the right spot.
Instead of focusing on vibrations, the Filare focuses on replicating the feel of pleasurable fingers. (If you remember the Sqweel of years past, the Filare is similar in its "rotating wheel" design - only in a design that's designed to be pleasurable to the clitoris instead of the lackluster reviews the wheel-o-tongues received)
Despite being brand-new technology, the Lora DiCarlo Filare is still jam-packed full of great features. The Filare offers two stimulation points (those two protruding points sticking out from the silicone!) which means that you don't need to wait as long to feel another "flick" of the finger when using the two.
The Filare is equipped with two ball heights, so its "fingers" can protrude more - or less - for the amount of contact you personally need. In addition, this handheld clitoral vibrator offers 3 stimulation modes. You can enjoy those protruding stimulation points going clockwise and counterclockwise—or a mixture of the two, back and forth.
(Lora DiCarlo makes the Baci—which is, by far, one of the most pleasurable things to touch my vagina, so there is some very high hopes for the Filare going on here.)
So let's get to it. Let's learn more about the Lora DiCarlo Filare in this Lora DiCarlo Filare review.

How'd You Use It?
You know that feeling you get when someone else is pleasuring you with their fingers, and you don't quite know how it's going to turn out? At one moment, their fingers feel great, but you know that isn't going to be an orgasmic spot. You don't stop them because - hey, it still feels great.
The next second, they move along to doing something else, and you know "THAT'S THE SPOT", and within a minute, if they kept that up, you could be writhing in the throes of orgasm on their hand.
That, essentially, is the Lora DiCarlo Filare in a nutshell. It has this impressively uncanny ability to provide that experience - even without another human - in a way no other clitoral toy has ever been able to do.
It doesn't necessarily have "constant level" stimulation in a way that touches the entire vulva. Instead, it has these two little stimulation points that go in circles. So you can line up one of the points for constant thrumming on the clitoris as each point "lines up" with the clitoris as it completes its circle, or you can place the clitoris in the middle and allow the two stimulation points to circle the sensitive area – or anywhere in-between.

This means that, depending on where you hold the toy, you can have a toy that's offering a constantly-teasing finger sensation (just like when you wonder when your partner will "line up" with that *one spot!* you're craving), or if you choose to hold it in that perfect spot, it can gradually build you up to an intense orgasm.
It doesn't offer the instant-satisfaction I can get with vibrators. It really does feel like the same type of stimulation I'd get with a partner's finger where it takes a few seconds before I go, "Oh, yes, this will definitely do it!". It gives a really authentic feeling, like partnered sex, in a way no sex toy has ever really done before.
That being said, there's a time and a place for that type of sensation (for me!). If I want an easy orgasm, and I want it now, I'd probably pull out a different toy like the Womanizer Premium. I know it'll get there, and it'll get quickly and reliably - and pull an orgasm out of me even if my body is being an asshole.
The Lora DiCarlo Filare is much more for laying back and having the time and interest in gently teasing myself through waves of pleasure. A small wrist position change easily makes the difference between T-minus-30-seconds until orgasm - or being able to enjoy that exact spot for 10 minutes. The orgasm feels like it builds up extremely organically with all of the bonuses (and pitfalls) that organic, "hand-grown" orgasms can include.
It's also a great, constantly-pleasurable sensation that drifts throughout my body as the Filare does its job. It feels like a "laze around and enjoy effortless pleasure that will eventually culminate in a satisfying-feeling orgasm" in a way that vibrating toys never have.
While we're on the topic of holding the Lora DiCarlo Filare, it's important to note that the Filare only works well if you can get it up to the clitoris. You'll note that the little protruding stimulation points are less than 0.5" away from the body of the toy. This means that if you have thicker labia, a clitoris that's set further into the body, or have a squishier vulva from being a squishier human, you will really have to shove the Filare all up in there.
Unlike air suction toys (and other vibrators) that have some tip (with some length to it!), the Filare doesn't have any bit of "tip" at all. You really need the entirety of the vibrator flush with the clitoris if you want to enjoy the movements of the toy.

This essentially means some pretty dedicated cleaning times - especially if you're someone with a fleshier vulva. Most toys usually give me a bit of "handle" room, but that's not the case with the Filare. It pretty much needs to snuggle entirely between the labia, so keep that in mind if you might have issues reaching that spot or feel uncomfortable with something needing that type of wiggle room to really get into the proper spot.
This is also something to consider if you're using the Filare with a partner. You'll need to be comfortable instructing your partner to really “get on in there” as most partners I've been with generally default to a softer touch with a toy (usually for good reasons!).
As another bonus, since the Lora DiCarlo Filare doesn't use any vibrations (at all!), you can choose to use this toy to tease yourself for as long as you want. (Okay, up to an hour because that's the battery life. Maybe you need two Filares?) This just adds more to the realistic, lingering pleasure experience.
When I try to use vibrations for longer, 20+ minute pleasure sessions, my body starts becoming a bit numbed due to the constant movement that vibrations provide. I don't have the same problem with the Filare.
How Else Could It Be Used?
You can essentially use the Lora DiCarlo Filare anywhere where a moving fingertip could be pleasurable. This could include the nipples or the tip of the penis. You could also experiment with where the Filare is used on the vulva as some people enjoy the movement on other areas aside from the clitoris. (Just keep in mind that you only have an hour's worth of playtime!)
Product Details
The Lora DiCarlo Filare is very slim and about the size of your palm. It's pretty comfortable to hold, and you can hold it without accidentally pressing the buttons - but it's also easy to reach the buttons when you need them. The Filare can be held with a "cupping" motion against the body, but it's also thick enough for gripping it with your fingers to get it into the right spot.

The Filare is made from body-safe silicone and plastic. The silicone is that nice, super-silky type of silicone that you can glide your hands over. I'd guess (with no way to verify) that the silicone layer is relatively thin in order to make the protruding pleasure points provide as much pleasure as possible.
The Lora DiCarlo Filare has some pretty strong protrusion points too. I can push down fully with all of the strength of my finger (while holding it), and it does not affect the movement at all. The Filare was really built to be pressed up against the body with no disturbance to the movement.
This isn't like a rabbit vibrator where the beads or movement will lock up. The Filare keeps moving - even if you're throwing a ton of pressure against the protruding pleasure spots.
Of course, we're all always curious about the noise level. That being said, this type of technology isn't the quietest tech out there. It does produce a "whining" noise that gets noticeably more louder on the faster spinning modes.
This whining noise can be easily heard within the same room, and if you're hoping to block it with a closed door, you need to make sure you have some music or the television on at a moderate volume. Keeping the Filare pressed snugly against the body does reduce the noise as well, but it isn't the quietest toy out there. If complete silence is important, the Filare is probably not a great fit.
That being said, the whining noise isn't particularly distracting. It's definitely noticeable, but after a bit, since it's a constant, same-tone noise, it tends to fade into the background. You might need to turn up your porn a bit (if you're using any!), but the Lora DiCarlo Filare noise doesn't make me want to toss it across the room. It's definitely audible, but it isn't annoying.

How it Works
The button system for the Lora DiCarlo Filare looks a bit confusing at first (there's a whole control panel!), but once you get used to it, it's honestly pretty useful. I had it down pat pretty quickly during the first use of the toy - even without being able to see the buttons. (The Lora DiCarlo Ose 2 is the same way. It looks complicated at first, but once you learn the buttons, you find it's the easiest way to get the exactly pleasure you want when you want it.)
The Lora DiCarlo Filare has a power button (far away from the rest of the buttons) and two rocker switches. One rocker switch increases and decreases the intensity level (+ on one end with a - on the other) of your current stimulation mode. The other button cycles through the stimulation modes - which includes 3 stimulation modes (further out and less far-out for the contact point, clockwise and counter-clockwise, and a swirling back and forth that alternates between the clockwise directions). You can control the intensity (which is how fast the toy spins) on each one of the stimulation modes.
Other features include a low power warning and an auto-shut-off. The low power warning light will begin to "flutter" (around the power button where the Lora DiCarlo logo is located) when there's only 5 minutes left of battery power. The auto shut-off will automatically turn off the Filare when there's no activity from you in 5 minutes (like if you abandoned it to do something else).
