Sex culture continually changes. We've made some great advances. Yet there are some issues which still require a resolution. You say you want a revolution? Check out some issues we really need to resolve as a society in this week's Sex Stories We Love.

#MeToo Movement

It's an unfortunate reality that many great revolutions begin with suffering. The #MeToo movement opened our eyes to many, many transgressions and aggressions men committed against women. Although the stories were (and are) painful to hear, they illuminate the many problems women continue to endure. The initial and continued response of victimhood by men certainly exacerbated the issues. To have lived through this conversation has been extremely important for the generations. And Wednesday Martin suggests that we are already seeing change in sex culture because of the #MeToo movement. Previous perceptions of sexuality have been questioned, examined, refuted, and discussed. This is forward motion folks, and we must keep it moving.

Challenging Legal Changes in Indonesia

Gotta admit that I was pretty shocked to watch the political machinations unfolding in Indonesia over recent weeks. Admittedly, I live in a very North American bubble when it comes to sex. Sex outside of matrimony just isn't as shocking as it was in the past. Sure, it's still a strong belief for some, but I highly doubt we'll ever see an attempt at legislation that outlaws non-married sex ever again. Fortunately, as Indonesia re-writes its criminal code, the voice of the people was heard by Joko Widodo. Among other contentious articles, the new code would have a tremendous setback for sexual minorities and women, as well as religious minorities. The code is now being returned for further review and groups who objects to parts of it will have a voice. This is a story to watch.

Fat and Fucking Fantastic

As my current self, I shake my head at the extreme fat phobia found in our current culture. I also shake my head at my old self, the one who completely for for the normalizing of "thin is beautiful." I hadn't developed the critical skills to understand and appreciate the way our culture treats people of size, particularly women. Frankly, I wish I had read something like Gina Tonic's amazing guide to having sex with a fat girl because (a) it's hot and (b) it would have slapped some damn sense into me. If you know someone who needs to be slapped to help move pass such a ridiculous notion, pass the link along.

Sexy Seniors

Why is it so surprising that an 83-year-old woman is looking for hook-ups on Tinder? I mean, that's the point of the app, isn't it? I've certainly never heard of an age limit. The problem is there's been a longstanding misconception that people become non-sexual once they reach a certain age. For men, that age is a little more fluid as the dashing older man stereotype is long established. Women, on the other hand, are pigeonholed into losing sexual desire much earlier. In reality, plenty of older people are still frisky and DTF. This article might be a little more sensational, but it proves a point. Don't be surprised if someone much older expresses an interest in you...and be even less surprised if you have an amazing and hot time with them!

No Saving Sex Workers

Sex work is real work, and it has been for a very long time. They don't call it the world's oldest profession for nothing. Regardless of ourlongstanding tradition of sexual transactions, be that cam work, stripping, phone sex, in calls, BDSM, or street work, there have also been frequent attempts to regulate and govern the bodies of sex workers. The reality is that most of those bodies are female-identified, though trans, genderqueer, and men have certainly been subjected to the perceptions others hold about what they can and cannot do with their bodies. Are there problems with sex work? Yes. Is every sex worker in a problematic situation? Not at all.
