Gynesexuality refers to a person's sexual attraction to women or femininity. The term is rooted in the behavioral sciences. It describes one's sexual orientation without resorting to the gender binary. It describes attraction without referring to a person as heterosexual or homosexual. This prevents any bias or confusion. At the same time, it makes it easier to describe people who identify as intersex, transgender, and gender-queer.
In ancient Greek literature, gynesexuality was used to describe Zeus' lust for women. Love and lust may manifest in abusive ways, such as unsolicited sexual behavior and rape. Gynesexuality should be practiced with respect for one's object of affection.
