Kinkly explains Body Painting

Body painting has indigenous origins. Tribal cultures wore body paint for their ceremonies. The practice still exists among some of the tribes of New Zealand, Australia, Africa, and the islands of the Pacific. Western culture adopted body painting as a form of art, as well as a way to express political protest. Animal-rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) popularly used body painting to protest against luxury fashion company Burberry.
