Normophilia is a paraphilia in which customs, laws, religions, and traditions are eroticized. People who experience normophilia find conformity and the norm hot. They may be aroused by conservative ideas, religious practices and gatherings, and hetero-normative ideals. Normophilia is usually expressed within the dynamics of a romantic relationship or through sexual role-playing.
Because normophilia conforms to normative behavior and conservative ideals, it is more easily accepted than other paraphilias. Potential partners are more available; and negotiations on sex practices are sometimes taken for granted. Of course, there is always the possibility of going beyond a partner's limitations. It is ideal to negotiate how normophilia plays out during sex. As always, agree on a safe word in case things get too hot to handle.
