We are getting very academic and legal in our round-up this week. In fact, you’re going to learn so much from the first few headlines, that I was forced to put some gossip and naked pictures near the end just to even things out. Enjoy!

Sex Ed Grows Up

Started by Ducky DooLittle as a way to provide a space for sex educators to teach outside of sex shops, the New York Academy of Sex Education provides classes "with a focus on pleasure, anatomy, response, health, wellness, art, culture, business, beauty, body image and more." This week, it was announced that academies have also been established in Portland - run by JoEllen Notte (The Redhead Bedhead) - and Los Angeles - run by Elle Chase (Lady Cheeky). I’m really excited to see how this concept grows. I hope every city has an Academy of Sex Education some day!

If You're Watching Free Porn, You Could Be Breaking Copyright Law

I may be the only one who gets off on well-argued legal theory, but I know I’m not the only one who gets off on porn online. If the porn you’re watching is free, chances are you’re on a site that steals that porn (unless it’s Wood Rocket, then you’re good to come). And if your porn of choice originated from X-art.com, there’s a big possibility the site will come after you for infringing their copyright.

As the New Yorker reported, the owners of X-art.com are the biggest filers of copyright law infringement suits in the United States, going after both both suppliers and viewers. Some judges think they’re in their capacity of the law to do this, while others think they’re extortionists. Read the article and let me know what you think in the comments below.

No Glove No ... Pornography

Speaking of pornography and the law, California is attempting to pass a bill that would require the use of condoms in porn. It may sound like a good idea form the on-set - shouldn’t we encourage safe sex? - but the reality is that the bill could harm performers more than it would help them, at least according to some critics.

Pink and White Productions has multiple posts explaining just what is at stake for performers, and why AB-1576 should not pass, but I particularly like the letter from director Shine Louise Houston.

Cameron Diaz Promotes Polyamory?

The Interwebs were all abuzz this week wondering whether in a recent interview, Cameron Diaz was trying to *gasp* convert people to polyamory. Apparently, Diaz also recently championed the presence of pubic hair.

Polyamory and Communication

Since we’re already talking about polyamory, I should mention this piece by Harper Eliot on Life on the Swingset about how much of your poly lifestyle you should share and keep to yourself, both in your relationships and on social media.

Public Nudity Throughout the Ages

There were a lot of posts about naked bodies this week - or maybe that’s just my usual Twitter feed - but my favorite by far was this compilation of photos of public nudity throughout the ages from Nerve.com. Check out some of the early bathing suits and count yourselves much more comfortable than your predecessors.
