A few days ago, 11 contraception researchers won Grand Challenges Explorations grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Ideas included condoms made with nanomaterials, super-elastic polymers, or beef collagen; condoms with disposable applicators; even a condom that gradually tightens while you’re using it!
