In this week's Sex Stories We Love, we've rounded up all the recent times that sex and technology collided and made for some messy issues for people!

The United States of Ashley Madison

The Ashley Madison data dump has to be the biggest and most scandalous data dump ever, and of course hackers and data junkies all over the world have been digging through the digital treasure trove to see who these people are. Alexis Madrigal, a head writer at Fusion, poured through the bits to find out which states had the most people with Ashley Madison accounts. It turned out that New Jersey had the highest percentage of adults, 0.82%, with paid Ashley Madison accounts, while West Virginia had the fewest, only 0.28%. If you’re into infographics, dadaviz crunches the numbers by percentage of people with Ashley Madison accounts by country (Ohhh, Canada?), gender, sexual orientation, relationship status (hang on haters, 40% of Ashley Madison members are single), percentage of members with invalid email accounts, and the number of members using government, university, and top tech company email accounts.

Sexual FitBitness

Sex is a great cardio workout. It’s not enough to replace your daily run or a workout at the gym, but when one woman put on her FitBit during sex, she proved that she got her heart really racing and that she was burning some fat when she was scorching the sheets with her partner. Interesting data. It’s worth a chuckle, but when she posted her stats on /r/dataisbeautiful on Reddit, the data geeks started taking things a bit too seriously. First, someone threatened to delete the post because the poster wasn’t specific about her data source. (C’mon. It’s a FitBit.) Then, she was challenged by others in the group about the length of her orgasms. “Man, now I gotta defend my orgasm to a bunch of strange dudes,” Redditor Noveltysin told The Next Web News. Then she said, “Wait, no I don’t.”

Your Brain on Porn

Finding out how your heart – your physical heart, not your soulful heart – reacts and responds to sex is easy, but what about your brain? Ellen Hendrickson, the Savvy Pyschologist at Scientific America took a look at three studies that examined how the brain reacts to porn and other sexual images. Even though she stresses that she reports on things from a judgment-free point of view, you probably won’t be able to stop snickering when you find out that one of those studies showed that the more men watched porn, the less gray matter they had in their brain.

Has This Happened to You?

I’m sure that everyone has experienced at least one embarrassing moment during sex. Hopefully, you and your partner were able to laugh about it. But do you tell your friends about it? Probably not. However, 20 people took advantage of sharing their hilariously embarrassing moments in bed in an article in MensXP. Even though I’ve had some moments, these go way beyond any I’ve ever had like, “He accidentally Facetimed his dad … he heard and saw everything,” and “My dog licked my ex’s ass in the middle of sex.”
