Frenulum Breve

Updated: MAY 7, 2015

Frenulum breve is a condition in which the frenulum, the stretchy bit of tissue that sits under the glans penis and attaches to the foreskin which helps it to retract, is short. This restricts the movement of the foreskin. The foreskin should glide smoothly over the shaft of the erect penis. In the case of frenulum breve, this is not possible.

More About Frenulum Breve

Frenulum breve can make sex quite painful because the retraction of the foreskin and subsequent friction of intercourse can result in a painful tear of the frenulum.

There are several treatment options for frenulum breve ranging from the minimally invasive, including the use of stretching exercises and steroid creams, to the radical option of full circumcision (removal of foreskin).
