Sexual Surrogate

A sexual surrogate is someone who teaches people about physical contact, sexual contact, and intimacy in a therapeutic environment. A sexual surrogate educates a patient about how to improve their sex life, but may also engage in intimate physical relations or sexual intercourse with the aim of helping the patient achieve a therapeutic goal.

A sexual surrogate may be a certified sex therapist or have a professional certification in another related field.

Being a sex surrogate has very little to do with sex and more to do with helping people improve their social and intimacy skills so that they can develop a normal sexual relationship with someone else. Surrogates are trained through the International Professional Surrogates Association and most work closely with trained sex therapists.

If someone has problems developing relationships with people or problems becoming intimate with a partner because of their own self esteem issues a sex surrogate can help them overcome these problems. Surrogates may also help disabled people uncover their sexual potential despite physical limitations.
