Urban Tantra is a conscious sexuality/sacred sex practice that blends conscious sex practices ranging from Tantra and Tao to BDSM. It is a registered trademark owned by Barbara Carrellas, a sex educator and sexologist who teaches a holistic approach to sexuality. The practice is taught as a modern approach to the ancient Tantric traditions, which have their origins in ancient Indian philosophy.

Urban Tantra teaches unique breathing techniques, and sees BDSM as a way to expand the Tantric practice. By extension, Urban Tantra is also believed to enrich a BDSM practice and, by extension, participants' lives.
